SIN CITY TOUR / PHENIX CITY ALABAMA
Phenix City, Alabama is located right across the river from Columbus, a 30-second drive from downtown Columbus.
Phenix City holds a controversial history. “Sin City” and “Sodom” were the names tagged to the city for decades. Phenix City was entrapped in the grasp of the infamous “Dixie Mafia.”
Ruthless gangsters, pimps, thieves, and cheaters ran amok along the western shore of the Chattahoochee River. These decadent activities finally met its course through the murder of one stalwart citizen, who looked to take down the corrupt operation. The state declared martial rule. The soldiers dismantled the regime.
We’ll ride along the roads where playing cards flipped and roulette wheels spun. See the location where the notorious murder occurred and the tide turned against the criminals. We’ll traverse by the homes of some of the main characters in this good-over-evil story.
The major changes Phenix City has accomplished to eradicate remnants of Sin City, that still haunt and disturb a generation of local citizens, is dazzling.
All tour times are Eastern.
Walking tour is wheelchair accessible on flat terrain.
